Founded in 2012 by Lucas Tothe, Punchline Cinéma collaborates with filmmakers whose work offers a distinctive perspective on the world. Over the past decade, the company has produced more than thirty short films, selected by leading international festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Clermont-Ferrand, Rotterdam and Locarno.
Its commitment to emerging and established filmmakers has been recognized with numerous accolades, including several César Award nominations, two Magritte Awards, and the 2026 César Award for Best Short Film for Death of an Actor (Mort d’un acteur), directed by Ambroise Rateau.
In 2021, Jessica Arfuso joined Punchline Cinéma as Associate Producer and took charge of the company’s short film production. Together, they champion ambitious, distinctive and emotionally resonant auteur cinema, where every film grows out of trust, collaboration and a long-term commitment to its filmmakers.
